Reverend Christopher C. Kirkland III
​
Rev. Kirkland is a native of Mt. Vernon,NY. After graduating from Mount Vernon High School, he went onto further his education by receiving a Bachelors of Science in Electronics from North Carolina A&T State University and a Masters of Science in Administrations from Central Michigan University. He is currently pursuing an advanced degree at Wesley Theological Seminary. He and his wife Angelia of 35 years have two daughters; Christian and Alyse. In 2014, they became grandparents of their beautiful granddaughter Kyleigh.

Rev. Kirkland was ordained an Itinerant Elder at the Michigan Annual Conference in August 1997. In August 2000, he was appointed the Michigan Conference Board on Christian Education and in 2004 to the position of Director of Christian Education, which he held until 2008. In addition, from 2001-2008, he was chairperson of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour.

Rev. Kirkland, who worked for General Motors for over 30 years, in 2008, he and his family were transferred from Michigan to Maryland. Once settled, he was led to serve on the ministerial staff of Grace AME Church. While at Grace AME Church, he was truly appreciative to have served under the tutelage of his father in ministry, Reverend Howard C. Wright. in 2012, at the 196th Baltimore Conference, Bishop Adam J Richardson Jr. appointed Rev. Kirkland as Director of Christian Education.

In 2021, at the 71st Washington Annual Conference he was transferred from Baltimore Conference and appointed by Bishop James L. Davis to his first pastoral charge at Mt. Zion AME Church of the Capital District.

Rev. Kirkland continues to trust and believe in God's Grace and Mercy as the Lord guides, he and his family throughout life.
